GHP Online Enhancements – October 18, 2012

To better enable associations and their member clubs to manage Local Numbers GHIN has released added enhancements to GHP Online Association and Club.

  •  Associations/clubs now have the ability to have a Local Number auto generated when adding/transferring a golfer. To ensure this feature is enabled go to GHP Online Preferences, under the Global Settings tab make sure the Show Local Number box is checked. If left unchecked, it is assumed the club does not want the Local Number to display on GHP Online Golfer nor do they want the Local Number to be autoassigned.

Note: If your club is already using Local Numbers in GHP Client as a posting option, this field will automatically be defaulted to a check.

  • When the association/club activates a golfer who is inactive, if the golfer already has a Local Number that is active for another member of the club, a new Local Number will automatically be generated.
  • If clubs are combined on a database, by checking the Show Local Number box on one it will apply to all clubs.

GHP Online Products – Enhancements (10/18/2012)

Local Number Check/Auto-Assign: Combined Clubs

The Local Number Check and Auto Assign functionality has been implemented to handle combined clubs. Since combined clubs operate as a single club, it make sense to ensure that golfers that are members of combined clubs have unique local numbers.

 Local Number Check/Auto-Assign – Adds & Transfers

A new feature has been added to assist those clubs that use “local numbers”. If the preference of “Show Local Number” has been checked, the assumption is that the club is using Local Numbers as its posting preference. So in order to ensure that golfers added to these club get a valid local number, we have put in place a function where when a golfer being added or transfer into the club they are automatically assigned the next available local number. It is at this point, the user (i.e. club official or assoc staff) can change that generated local number if they wish.
If they do change the local number note that if the local number exists, the user will be prompted the number is already in use by another member.

Local Number Check/Auto-Assign – Reactivate Golfer

In an effort to disallow local number duplication for active members, we have added a check/prompt for duplicate local numbers when golfers are activated. Since an inactive and active golfer can have the same local number, when an inactive golfer is activated and the local number of that golfer matches the local number of an active golfer, they will receive the following prompt:
NOTE: If the local number assigned to this golfer is used, the player will be assigned a new local number.
This check has been added into the “Golfer Maintenance” and “Change Golfer Statuses” Functions. Lastly, the GolferActivate web service will use it as well.

System Performance Audit – October 15, 2012

GHIN conducted a full end-to-end system audit on Monday, October 15th  with assistance from IBM and third-party network specialists.  This audit took place throughout the morning during which time we used the real-time revision activities with its greater load to help identify any failure points.

I’m happy to report that the audit was successful and we were able to observe our entire system under typical revision load throughout the morning.  This allowed us to validate the improvements we made over the last year and those we made in the last two weeks.  We were also able to identify additional changes which we implemented immediately on Monday around 10am EST.   These included moving the images served for newsletters to our external CDN (Content Delivery Network ), and identifying additional monitoring that will allow us to better track and respond to system performance trends.

While some slow performance was noted by SRGA’s in the morning while the audit was taking place, subsequent feedback indicated that performance was then significantly better throughout the rest of the day.

Your patience while we conducted this audit is very appreciated and I also want to thank those that took the time to report their observations regarding performance.  This information was extremely helpful and confirmed the results of our internal performance monitoring and testing.

2012 Association Survey – DUE Tomorrow (10/16/2012)

This is a reminder that the 2012 Association Survey will close tomorrow, October 16th, 2012. Please remember that your feedback is important and will be used by GHIN Management to measure the level of service we provide. It also gives you an opportunity to comment directly on products and services we provide to your association. So please take this opportunity to fill out the survey today.
The survey can be found by clicking HERE.

Please reference our original blog post regarding the Association Survey here.

Thank You for your attention to this matter.

System Performance Audit – October 15, 2012

Following up from our Blog Post on Friday, we are currently monitoring the performance of the system. We have heard from a few associations performance is poor. If you are experiencing any unusual delays please contact GHIN Technical Support as soon as possible. We want to gather as much information as we can to determine the root cause. Let us know what application you are running and what the result is (is the server timing out, approximate time on delay to run request, etc.).

We would also like to hear if you are not experiencing any issues. This information could be valuable if we determine there is a regional problem.

You may contact Technical Support via phone at (800) 940-8535 x1 or email at ghinsupport@usga.org.

We thank you for your input and appreciate your patience!

System Performance Audit Scheduled – October 15, 2012

GHIN experienced unanticipated performance issues on October 1st that were clearly unacceptable. Prior to October 1st, significant modifications and configuration adjustments provided an improved baseline for multiple revisions. Though staff monitored closely throughout the day and continued to make additional adjustments during and after the 1st we do not feel that we have fully identified or resolved the issue(s) that impacted performance. To help determine the root cause, we will conduct a full end-to-end system audit on Monday, October 15th with assistance from IBM and third party network specialists. Read the rest of this entry »

GHP Online Product Line – Enhancements and Updates

GHIN is pleased to announce another update to our GHP Online product line that we will be putting into production for 10/12/2012.  The most obvious change that you will noticed are the visual enhancements to both the GHP Online Association and GHP Online Club web applications.  An ongoing initiative that GHIN has been asked to do is add more consistency across all of our products and services.  So similar to the GHP Online Golfer platform, now our GHP Online administration pages contain the similar header style.  The following are changes to GHP Online Club that change the look, but does not change functionality:

– Association Logos are now 100x100px instead of the previous 72×72. Uses updated PNG images that are better for use on websites and we are able to reuse in GHP Online Golfer for greater consistency.
– The gradient on the banner image is created on the fly, so it will fit any screen to look consistent (minimum width 980px)
– We dropped the yellow text that was used to identify the Club Name and User Name, they are now cleanly display on the top banner.
– The club name is more prominent (12pt and bold compared to 10pt for the user and 8pt for the logout link)
– USGA Banner and Seal aligns with USGA identity guidelines

Additional enhancement have been added to GHP Online Golfer as well, including an improved user experience for guests that now matches more closely to the options and functions that were previously only available to “members”.  Some highlights are listed below:

– Allow Guests to see score history by clicking a score history button on Guest HCP Lookup.
– When a guest is posting or performing a handicap lookup, we are now showing the club name next to the golfer’s name.
– On member HCP Lookup and Member Score Posting, show the GHIN # next to the member’s name for consistency.
– Allow guests in Guest HCP Lookup to print labels.

3278: ii52 – Score Posting: Allow authentication against Service ROLE passwords

GHP Online Association Only
Additional Service Passwords that have been defined for any level of access can now be used in the TPP Client version 4 software to perform Handicap Index lookups for both members and guests.

3322: Guest HCP Lookup same as Member HCP Lookup

GHP Online Golfer
The goal of this feature was to make the handicap lookup function and score posting process for a guest the same user experience that a member gets, in order to do this, we implemented the following functionality:
– Allow Guests to see score history by clicking a score history button on Guest HCP Lookup.
– Instead of showing the GHIN # (during posting) or nothing (during HCP Lookup) next to the golfer’s name for guests, show the club name.
– On member HCP Lookup and Member Score Posting, show the GHIN # next to the member’s name for consistency.
– Allow guests in Guest HCP Lookup to print labels.

3323: Single Course Facility – Select the course automatically

GHP Online Golfer
When GHP Online Golfer is servicing a single course facility, the Guest Handicap Lookup page, will go directly to the CH page and the guest will no longer need to select the course.

3329: Add Reactivate Index to GHP Online Club Settings

GHP Online Club:
This functionality is available from Club Settings >> GHP Online Preferences > Global Settings.
It allows for the ability for a club official to set the ability that when a golfer is reactivated, their Handicap Index will be calculated and designated as Modified.  This allows the golfers to automatically have a handicap index available for local use when their status changes from inactive to active.

3330: Add Low Score Range to GHP Online Settings Page

GHP Online Club & GHP Online Golfer
We have added the ability set the lowest score differential value that can be posted successfully to GHP Online – Golfer.  To set this value go to Club Settings >> GHP Online Preferences > Global Settings and change the Lowest Diff.
GHP Online Golfer will then check this value when a score is being posted and if the score differential is lower that the stated value the score will not be posted and the user will be prompted as such.

3340: Allow customizable Background Images

GHP Online Golfer
Background images are now supported.  GHIN will be able to upload specific background images for use at computers using the GHP Online Golfer application.  While the functionality is available for each club to have their own background image, GHIN will be looking to work with each association on how they want to utilize this functionality.  It is currently a two part process where the image is loaded, then the setting has to be set at the club level to identify what image will be used on that club’s GHP Online Golfer instance.

3344: UI Enhancements – GHP Online Association & Club

GHP Online Association & Club
GHIN has implemented User Interface changes in an effort to better enhance the association branding and to align with USGA identity guidelines.  These changes are highlighted below:

1) Association Logos are now 100x100px instead of the previous 72×72. Uses updated PNG images that are better for use on websites and we are able to reuse in GHP Online Golfer for greater consistency.
2) The gradient on the banner image is created on the fly, so it will fit any screen to look consistent (minimum width 980px)
3) We dropped the yellow text that was used to identify the Club Name and User Name, they are now cleanly display on the top banner.
4) The club name is more prominent (12pt and bold compared to 10pt for the user and 8pt for the logout link)
5) USGA Banner and Seal aligns with USGA identity guidelines.

3331: GHIN # on right side displays “null” if Custom Label not set

GHP Online Golfer (Bug Fix)

The issue “GHIN Number label not displaying on right side when custom label not set” has been fixed. The issue was when Custom Label in Global Settings is not set to any value and field is set to display “GHIN Number” on Lookup screen for GHP Online Golfer, it was displaying GHIN Number without any label. Now if this field is not set to any value, the label will default to “GHIN Number” and will display on lookup screen.

GHP Online Enhancements – October 4, 2012

GHP Online Golfer

We would like to thank the associations who have had the opportunity to move a few clubs over from GHP Client to the GHP Online Golfer platform. Based on the feedback we have received, GHIN has made some significant enhancements to the user interface. Below is a snapshot of the new look to the score posting screen. This has been pushed down automatically to those clubs currently using GHP Online Golfer.

Along with the user interface, we have made the following feature improvements:

1)    A slightly enlarged Score History table

2)    The ability to toggle between Revision and Most Recent Scores

3)    The “Used” column is back on the score history displays with * displayed by appropriate scores

4)    You can use the “enter” key now when logging in to one of the login page pop ups instead of having to click login

GHP Online Association and Club

Additional enhancements have been made to GHP Online Association and Club. These include:

1)      Transfer Golfer – when a player is transferred from another club the Local Number will not transfer to the new club.

2)      The player’s Local Number is now available on the HI/CH Web Report.

3)      The ratings for the home club are now available in the HI/CH Web Report if the club mapping has been completed.

4)      Clubs now have the ability to add additional Service Passwords to enable other club officials to have read only access to GHP Online Club (to run Web Reports, Handicap Index verification, etc.) or to give them a unique password to download TPP Client. Associations can access this feature under the Club/Services menu and Clubs can access this feature under the Club Settings menu.

Three sessions dedicated to GHP Online Golfer and Club are scheduled at the upcoming GHIN Users’ Meeting in Utah where you can learn more about this new platform.

See the release notes for more information on the features included in this release.
