Web Ed: GHP Online Golfer

GHIN is pleased to announce the topic for the September Web Education (Web Ed) session will be a demonstration of the recently released GHP Online Golfer.

Two sessions will be held Monday, September 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (ET). The presentation will show an overview of the new score posting application now available to your golf clubs. GHP Online Golfer provides immediate feedback to the golfer when posting a score or performing a Handicap Lookup though its direct connection to the GHIN server. Both members and guests alike have the ability to view their current scoring record once a score has been posted. Away scores can now be posted by golfers to any course in the country using the CRP data, not just GHIN associations.

The meeting will be hosted by Jeff Mackintosh, GHIN Technical Support Liaison – Level II.

If you miss your opportunity for either session, GHIN will be recording the training for future viewing. In addition, a breakout session will be devoted to GHP Online Golfer at the upcoming GHIN Users’ Meeting in Park City, Utah.

Should you have specific questions please contact GHIN Tech Support at ghinsupport@usga.org.

2012 GHIN Users’ Meeting Notice

Association Logos within GHIN Products and Services

From time to time, GHIN receives updated logos from our golf associations to be propagated across all of our products and services.  We understand the importance of these images, as it is how each association presents a consistent brand to their membership and other constituencies they serve.  To date, our staff has endeavored to accommodate these requests upon receipt, but in recent years, as our product lines have expanded; this process has become quite involved.  There are currently eight versions of each association logo being used in 18 different locations.  For the GHP and TPP client software packages, a software update is required to “push” the new logos out to computers in the field.  With the new GHP Online Golfer (Kiosk) and with TPP Online Club launching in the not too distant future, this process will only become bigger, before it gets easier.

In order to ensure that each association is represented well within GHIN products, we are asking that you review your association’s logo throughout our platforms.  If there is an update needed please bring it to our attention.

The items that should be reviewed are as follows:

  • GHIN Handicap Program Client Software
    • Check the Management application
    • Check the kiosk screen to insure it works for resolutions 800×600 and up.
    • Check the default screen saver(s)
  • TPP Client Software – Check that is works for resolutions 800×600 and up.
  • GHP Online (Association and Club levels)
    • Login in screen for association, left of the association name.
    • Web Reports – Run a club roster and use the option to Include Logo.  It should appear in the top left corner of the report page.
    • Login as a club and check the right side of the banner/menu bar.
  • TPP Online banners
    • Administration Menu
    • Golfer Menu
    • Scoring Menu
    • Points Menu
  • eNewsletter (eRevision)
    • Logo in upper right of “eRevision” version of eNewsletter template
    • Handicap Card Image
  • eGolfer Login as a golfer and look in the myGame tab
  • eClubhouse –login as any user (admin or golfer) and check the upper right
  • GHIN Mobile App
    • Home and Background Images
    • Landing Page or QR codes

Please review the images and make sure they are your current logo and that it looks good within each product or service.  If there is any “fuzziness” or a “halo” (a color around the edge not intended to be part of the logo), please let us know and we will attempt to improve it.

If you have not done so recently, we are also asking that each association send your most current logo in the highest quality/resolution possible to us at GHINSupport@GMail.com — including information on any inconsistencies or places it needs to be updated.  If you do not have a current high resolution, full color logo, we would like to take the opportunity to strongly encourage you to have one made soon.  If you need assistance on how to proceed, please contact us and we will be happy to advise you.

We are going to perform our next software update to accommodate new associations and logo revisions early next month, so please let us know if your logo needs to be updated by September 28, 2012.

Thank you for your assistance!

CRP Data Integration Update – September 5, 2012

As we continue on our quest to have one database for all Course Rating information, GHIN took another major step towards that goal. As of September 4, 2012 CRP data will be used exclusively on GHIN.com, GHIN widgets and mobile GHIN.com. GHP Online (Association, Club and Golfer) are using CRP data exclusively for score maintenance and rapid score entry. This will enable your golfers and club officials to post scores from any golf course, not just GHIN association courses.

Because this is an ongoing effort, not all GHIN applications are using CRP data exclusively. Programs not using CRP data include eGolfer, eClubhouse, Data on Demand, GHIN mobile app,TPP Online,TPP Client, GHP client and Web reports. GHP Online (Association, Club and Golfer) are not using CRP data for player settings, including default tees.

In order to assure that golfers are posting to correct ratings, associations will need to continue to update rating information in CRP and GHIN until further notice. Once the information has been updated in GHIN please verify the tees have been mapped to the correct club and course.

We appreciate your patience and support as we drive closer to utilizing one set of Course Rating data for all products.

2012 GHIN Club Survey – September 4, 2012

GHIN will be mailing out postcards today to all association golf clubs asking for their input on GHIN products via the annual club survey. Club officials will be directed to the link, http://clubsurvey.ghin.com to complete their responses. The survey will be open until Friday, September 21, 2012.

We ask your assistance in forwarding this information on to the appropriate officials at your golf clubs through your website or email blast. This survey enables your golf clubs to voice their opinions, ideas, and concerns not only about GHIN products but on your association service to them as well.

Your association will be provided the results of the survey so you can assess your clubs wants and needs for future planning.

Together we can continue to provide the best service and GHIN products to your member clubs.
