Reminder: Courses Project – Phase II

Please be advised the deadline for returning your Course Project – Phase II – Course mappings, is April 30, 2012. So far only  1/3 has been returned.  As you know, GHIN can’t move forward with CRP migration until all mappings have been returned. If have any question please contact Lisa Christie @ lchristie@usga.org.

For your convenience the content of the original BLOG post can be found below.

GHIN is moving forward with its long standing development objective to eliminate the need for two course rating databases – the Association Course Rating Database (ACRDB) at GHIN and the National Course Rating Database (NCRDB). GHIN feels confident that we are ready to move onto the next level of mapping, which is the Course Mapping phase.  We hope that you will assist us in rapidly turning this piece around so that we can focus on the final piece, which will be Tee Mappings.

An Excel file, including instructions will be emailed to each association. Please review this information and provide updates as needed. This information is intended for the staff member at your association who manages the ACRDB at GHIN, so if you are not this person, please forward to the appropriate staff member. If you have any questions please let me know.  When you are finished please return to me at  lchristie@usga.org  by April 30, 2012.

Please note, an interface called “CRP to GHP Course Mapping Management” has been added to GHP Online which you can use to map your courses yourself, or feel free to follow the instructions in the excel sheet and GHIN will be happy to complete your course mappings for you.  Either way, GHIN would welcome your assistance with this project and hope that you will be able to complete the course mappings by 4/30/2012.

Thank you again for your assistance on these mapping sessions, as we know that they are cumbersome and time consuming.  Course and Tee mappings should not be nearly as tedious as the initial Club Mappings.

GHP Online Update Coming – Association and Club Site Enhancements

GHIN has been preparing back end services for GHP Online and making necessary platform modifications in preparation for the release of the GHP Online Score Kiosk. In addition to supporting the GHP Online Score Kiosk application, GHIN took the opportunity to add several enhancements to our already comprehensive web-based management applications and offer association and club representatives even more tools to better manage and effectively serve their membership. Lastly, GHIN has added and exposed many new web services that will be used by GHIN applications (and any other authorized users). To get a complete listing of items included in this release please see the Release Notes section. Read the rest of this entry »

GHP Online & Supporting Services – 25 April 2012

2918: FindGolfer Method – Returns Local #

Golfer Methods
The FindGolfer method will now return a golfer’s local number as part of the result set when this method is called.

2931: Scores Maintenance – New Filtering Options & Playing Indicator

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online – Clubs
The scores maintenance page has been updated with additional filter options to offer more flexibility in defining what scores an association or club representative would like to review.  These additional filtering options include:
Scores played on a specific day of the week and the ability to filter by multiple score types at the same time.
In addition, GHIN has added a new display to the scores maintenance grid called Playing Indicator.  What the playing indicator offers is another measure of a golfers playing ability that are based on certain filter options that can be compare against the golfer’s current Handicap Index.  Playing Indicator is not a Handicap Index, but rather a way for an association or club official to determine how a golfer plays under certain criteria.
The Playing Indicator value is derived by limiting a golfer’s score history based on criteria that the user defines by using the filtering options available.  Once you have this subset of scores, you can further define what scores to be used in the calculation by clicking the Player Indicator Settings button on the bottom of the page.  These settings allow for the user to determine the number of most recent scores to use and how many of the lowest differential to use.
Once set a Playing Indicator value will appear within the player’s scoring grid.  The calculation then averages the differentials for the scores identified.
Note, it averages the differentials that are identified and that is the playing indicator.  Useful in measuring a players average score information against their Handicap Index value based on certain criteria.

2936: Special Updates – Single Golfer

GHP Online – Association Only
The ability to run a “special” update on single golfer has been added to the Golfer Maintenance screen.  This functionality will look at any scores that were played in time for the current revision, but for some reason were not used in the current revision calculation.  Know an association representative can initiate this process, which will include the recalculation of the HI as well as, the routing of indexes to the local PC, if applicable.

2937: Special Update – Multiple Golfers

GHP Online – Association Only
The ability to run a “special” update on any/all active golfers in a club/service has been added.  This menu item was added to “Club/Services” on GHP Online – Associations.  The functionality is similar to Case 2936, however, you can now do it in “bulk”.

2939: Web Services for Updating Service Level Default Tees

Club Methods
A new method “ClubUpdateDefaultTees” has been added to allow for updating of default tees.

2945: Inactivate\Activate Dates – Golfer Maintenance

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online – Club Sites
A new feature has been added to both the GHP Online Association and Club sites that allows a club official or Association representative to define a date in which an individual golfer will become inactivated or activated via Golfer Maintenance.  This new functionality resides under a new tab in golfer maintenance entitled “Inactivate Dates”.  The tab contains the ability to set a date and a “state”, where the state defines the action that is completed when the date specified is reached.  The “state” also serves as indicator that the status change was completed on the date specified.  The available states include:

  •  Activate – used to automatically activate a golfer based on the date specified.
  • Inactivate – used to automatically inactivate a golfer based on the date specified.
  • Activate Complete – Indicator that on the specified date the golfer was successfully activated.  You can not set this “state”, it will only be set to this as an indicator that the activation was completed.
  • Inactivate Complete – Indicator that on the specified date the golfer was successfully inactivated.  You can not set this “state, it will only be set to this as an indicator that the inactivation was completed.

The Association site has the ability to set this at the association level or at the club/service level.  (Setting at the association level, will set the golfer’s status as defined for all club/services in which that golfer is a member of in the association)
The Club Site only allows this to be set at the club/service Level.  The association level area will be disable for club officials.

2955: Inactivate/Active Dates – Set Change Golfer Statuses In The Future

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online – Clubs
A new feature has been added to the GHP Online platform that allows an association representative or club official to set the status for golfers on a date specified in the future. The page is entitled, “Change Golfer Statuses in the Future”.
To access this page via the Association application, click the Club/Service > Set Inactive Dates.
To access this page via the Club application, click My Golfers > Set Inactive dates.
The functionality behaves similarly to the existing “Change Golfer Status” function, where you can choose to highlight specific golfers and click the “Set for Selected Golfers” or you just click the “Set for Entire Roster”.  Both options with present a modal form that has a ‘Club Date’ and ‘State’ control.
The Club Date control will launch a calendar control for the user to set the date in which the golfer’s status will change.  The State control is a drop-down that contains “Activate” or “Inactive” option which will determine what the status the golfer will become on the date specified.
Additionally, the “Change Golfer Statuses in the Future” page has two new columns, one entitled Auto-Date and the other Auto-Status.  These will indicate to the user whether golfers have their status already set to automatically change.
Lastly, unlike the Set Expiration Dates in Golfer Maintenance on the Association site, the status can not be changed for all club/services that a golfer is a member of in the association.

2958: Multiple Address Supported – Per Association

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online – Clubs
GHIN now supports the ability to house multiple addresses for a golfer per association.  This functionality will allow associations or club officials to add additional address information for those members that have multiple residencies.
To access this functionality, go to the Golfer Maintenance Screen, and click the new link “Additional Addresses”.  This will bring the user to new page where a user can add as many address to each member as needed, labeling them by a naming convention that you control.  Also, each address can be assigned a time-frame using a mm//dd format so that you can report on a golfer’s address based on the time period in which you run specific reporting functions.  (The mm//dd format allows for you to set a time-frame for an address that is not year specific, so that it does not have to be update every year, additionally dates can overlap to accommodate users who are not interested in the defining a time period for the member to be assigned to an address)
The Primary address that is identified, will still be used exclusively by existing GHIN applications and other services that interact with a members address information.  The Primary address is what will show in Golfer Maintenance and used with the existing GHP version 5 client.  Editing the primary address will be routed as expected and interact with other web services as it has previously.
Additional Addresses that are not the primary address will be exclusively for use in generating mailing lists and for use by specific web services that will return an address based on the time-frame identified.

2959: GolferMethods Updated – Support of Multiple Addresses

Three new web services have been added to GolferMethods:

  • GolferGetAddresses: ‘Read Only’ permissions or above user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to get all addresses for a particular golfer.
  • GolferUpdateAddress: ‘Editor’ permissions or above user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to add/update an address including primary address for a particular golfer.
  • GolferDeleteAddress: ‘Editor’ permissions or above user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to delete any address except primary address for a particular golfer.

2969: Club Methods Updated to support Home Courses

Club Methods
GHIN has added the following methods to the group of Club Methods in support of setting Home Course information for a Club.

  • HomeCoursesGet – lists all the home course information selected for the tee
  • HomeCoursesAdd – Allows you to add one using a CRP Course ID
  • HomeCoursesRemove – Remove a CRPCourseID as a home course for a club
  • HomeCoursesClear – Clear all the home courses for a club
  • HomeCoursesTeeGet – Gets a list of tees for the home courses for the club. Allows you to filter by gender.

2984: Modify Club Roster Report for multiple addresses

GHP Online – Clubs Only Web Report
The ability to run Club Roster Report with Multiple Addresses has been added to Web Reports. For this function, the filter “Address Type” has been added underneath “Status” filter with options ‘Primary Address’, ‘All Addresses’, ‘Address Active Today’ and ‘Address active on a Date’. Using any filter, user will able to run or schedule Club Roster Report with each golfer address(es).
Also there is “Address Description” field added to the report. This will help to identify each address if the golfer has multiple addresses.

2985: Retrieve Addresses for Association via webservice

One more new web service has been added to GolferMethods:
GolferGetAddressesAll: ‘Read Only’ right or above user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to retrieve addresses for a GHIN Number, Association, Club or Service. You will able to look up addresses by ‘Primary Only’, ‘All Addresses for all golfers’ or ‘Specify a date and only get address for those dates’. Also this web service will return only Active golfers.

2992: New Golfer Method added: ClubRosterLocalNumber

In support of the Online Score Kiosk web application, a new web service has been added to GolferMethods:
ClubRosterLocalNumber: ‘Read Only’ right or above user can use this web service. This web service will work exactly as ClubRoster except using this you will be able to search by a single local number.

2995: Post IGN Score – Supporting web services

Scores and Club Methods Update
To support the Online Score Kiosk application, we have added two new web services to support Posting of IGN Scores.
PostIGNScore in ScoreMethods: Only ‘Admin’ right user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to post a Score for a golfer who doesn’t have GHIN Number but has an IGN Number. This web service will also validate the score and make sure the IGN Association Number exists.
IGNAssociationList in ClubMethods: ‘Read Only’ right or above user can use this web service. Using this web service, user will able to retrieve the list of IGN Associations with Name and Number.

3007: Add Golfer – Check to see if the name exists

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online – Club
GHIN has modified the add golfer process so that there is a check on golfer name to see if the golfer already exists in the service you are adding them to, in an attempt to minimize potential merges.  The process will check all 5 aspects of the name to see if it matches a golfer in that service already.  If a match is found, the user is prompted that somebody already exists with that name, do you still want to add.

GHIN Mobile App – v2.0 is Coming

A new version of the GHIN Mobile App will be available soon.  New features will include:

  • Bringing in the MyCourses concept from eGolfer to make the score posting process simpler.  A golfer can select the course played from a list of his/her most recently played courses.
  • The ability to lookup a handicap index by state and player name.
  • The ability to get course handicaps for a golfer and his/her playing partners and then adjust the course handicaps to be based off low player.  If playing partners are playing from different sets of tees, Section 3-5 of the USGA Handicap System will be applied.

GHIN is testing the Android version now and will soon be testing the iOS version.  Look for availability of GHIN Mobile v2.0 in May.

World Amateur Golf Ranking TPP® Results

As you may know, the USGA® has partnered with the R&A in compiling and publishing the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) for men and women.  The purpose of the WAGRs is providing exemptions to amateur championships.  The system debuted January 1, 2007.  It updates every Wednesday at noon, Greenwich Mean Time.

In early 2011, the USGA and The R&A announced a new partnership for joint committee oversight of WAGR.  USGA men’s amateur championships in 2011 exempted the top 50 from WAGR as of the respective close of entries.  The Women’s WAGR debuted February 17, 2011, as part of a new and improved WAGR website.  The USGA now offers similar exemptions for its women’s amateur championships.

To assist State and Regional Golf Associations and other users of TPP with submitting your stroke play results for WAGR consideration, GHIN® has developed report formats for two to four round stroke play tournaments.  These reports can be downloaded in the TPP client software by going to the Reports menu; selecting the Import from GHIN Server option; then selecting the report(s) you would like to import.  The proper reporting format can be found in the Scoring – Multiple Round – Player Report Group and are titled WAGR X Round Report, where X is the number of rounds, from 2 to 4.

Once the report is run there are directions at the top to Export the report to Excel and then to make some minor edits, before saving and emailing as it instructs.

Match Play results are also welcome to be submitted, but those can be sent by merely saving the stock TPP Match Play Trees as pdf files and emailing with the stroke play report or as directed with the required information from the stroke play reports.

Update to TPP Online Dynamic Scoring Pages…

The TPP Scoring module underwent significant redesign to improve the overall response times of our scoring pages and to minimize the load on our TPP Online servers. These changes were moved to Production on April 2nd. We will be releasing an update to the scoring application tomorrow that will address several reported issues that affected functionality and various scoring displays. As this updates propagates across our servers you may experience downtime that should be no longer than a couple of minutes.. The release notes for this upgrade can be found under the Release Notes Menu. Read the rest of this entry »

TPP Online Solution: 2012 April 18th

2979: Assign Playoff Winner Message does not display

The message from Assign Playoff Winner now displays above the results tables.

2980: Match Play Pairings Display is being duplicated

When looking at the current pairings for a match play event, each pairing appeared 2 times in the display.  Now the each pairing displays only once.

2981: Player Stroke Results Page – Prior to start of Event Incorrect Sort

In a Stroke Play Player event after pairings have been created, but before the round has started, the players are sorted by entry number.  This has been changed so that players are sorted by Time/Tee.

2983: TPP Online Scoring – Net Score Card display issue

For a net event, if you clicked the player’s name to see the player’s full scorecard for each round, the scorecard showed gross results.  This has been corrected to show net results.
Also, if you clicked the “Return to results” link at the bottom of the player’s scorecard page, the page displayed was the tournament gross results, not the net results page.  This also has been corrected.

2990: When selection option is available, leaderboard does not fit on mobile display

Scoring pages with a selection item like Round number are now being sized properly for display on mobile devices.

2993: TPP Online Scoring Site – Issue with Multiple Round Pairings Display

When the scoring site for a tournament is setup to show multiple rounds, by default the Pairings page will select and display the round that is the lowest round still in the future.  The user can still select a different round from the Round drop-down menu.

2916: TPP Online Score Cards – Team CH Display Issue

GHIN Development resolved an issue regarding the dotting of scorecards for a teamed event where percentages were being applied.  Scorecards are now properly dotted for teamed events.

2973: Pairings sorted alphabetically not displaying properly

Pairings Sorted Alphabetically were displaying as sorted by starting time.  Now pairings will display in alphabetic order by player name.

2976: Alpha results sorting on First Name when display is First Name Last Name

When looking at the Individual Stroke Play Sorted Alphabetically, the sort order depended on how names were configured to display.  If display order was First Name then Last Name, the results were sorting alphabetically by first name.  Now regardless of how the display of names is configured, the Individual Stroke Play Sorted Alphabetically sorts on last name.

2998: Tee HBH Yardage and Par = null – Score Card displays incorrectly

The Scoring site now correctly displays a blank card with nothing displayed for par and yardage when HBH par and yardage have not been entered yet in Admin.
