GHIN.com: Score Posting Issue identified…

GHIN technical support has received a decent number of calls in recent weeks regarding user's not being able to post scores via GHIN.com. GHIN was able to diagnose this issue and determined that it is isolated to users of IE7 who have received a recent priority update from Microsoft. Read on for details and resolutions... GHP Online: Development Update (10/25/2011)

2767: Ability to automatically Add a Penalty Score

GHP Online – Associations & GHP Online – Clubs
The feature “Ability to automatically Add a Penalty Score” has been added on “Score Maintenance” page next to “Add Score” button. The button is labeled as “Add Penalty Score”. This button will give user an ability to add a low or high Penalty Score automatically. The Penalty score will be presented as “P” on Score Maintenance page.

2480: Rapid Score Entry Player Entry Methods

GHP Online – Clubs ONLY
The feature “Rapid Score Entry by Local Number and Player Name” has been added on “Rapid Score Entry” page on GHP Club site. This feature will give an ability to add rapid scores by using either Local Number or Player’s Name. By selecting “Local Number” as ‘Player Entry Method’ will allow user to add scores using player’s local number. By selecting “Name (Last, First)” as ‘Player Entry Method’ will allow user to search the player by just typing few letters of player’s last name and selecting the desired player from the list and then add scores for the player.

2626: Residential vs Commercial Address Flag – Club Address(es)

The feature “Residential vs Commercial Address Flag – Club Address” has been added on “Service Maintenance page. This feature will allow user to give availability to select the club address (UPS and Mailing both) either as Residential or Commercial by simply checking off or unchecking off the check box under the address. By checking off the check box will consider the address as “Residential” address and by unchecking off the check box will consider the address as “Commercial” address.

2777: Pagination throws the error

The issue “Pagination throws the error” on Course/Tee Management page has been addressed. The issue was when you were trying to go on next page by either selecting page from the drop down option or by clicking “Next”, it was throwing the error and did not allow user to go to next page. Now you will be able to go to next page by using either of the methods.

A new version of TPP Online was put into production yesterday afternoon. This release contains over 30 feature enhancements, with most aimed at reducing the reliance on running the TPP client application. GHIN estimates that 90% of the client functionality has now been replicated, allowing users to administer events from creation and setup to scoring and reporting using TPP Online exclusively. 2602: Remove Stroke Play Pairings – Replicate Client Functionality

Main function of “Remove Stroke Play Pairings” is to provide availability to remove stroke play pairings for open tournament. This functionality will allow you to remove pairings for ALL Rounds, Courses and Flights or SELECTED Rounds, Courses and Flights.

2603: Remove Matches and Pairings – Replicate Client Functionality

Main function of “Remove Matches and Pairings” is to provide availability to remove matches and pairings for open tournament. This functionality will allow user to remove pairings for all match groups or selected match groups.

2608: Copy Players from Existing Tournament – Replicate Client Functionality

Main function of “Copy Players from Existing Tournament” is to provide availability to copy players from existing tournament. You can select the tournament from where you want to copy players from and copy over the some or all golfers to open tournament. ‘Entry Number’, ’Pro Status’ and ‘Sort Sequences’ can be copy over to open tournament by just checking off the checkmark box next to them. Also you have ability to choose options from show drop down.

2609: Various List – sort by Ascending/Descending order

2617: Add players from Master Player List – Replicate Client Functionality

TPP Online now offers the ability to add players directly to a tournament from the Master Player List.  The user has the ability to check the check box next to the individual golfer(s) in the MPL and then click the “Add to Tournament”.  It is now very easy to bulk add players from the Master Player List.

2619: Add Players from Club List – Replicate Client Functionality

Main function of “Add Players from Club List” is to provide availability to add players from any Association/Club services. You can load roster either by association and club number or by association, club and service number. It will also load roster by matching Gender that is set in tournament basic setup. You also will able to use show options to view golfers GHIN Number, Handicap Index, Entry Number or Age.

2620: Copy Players for Existing Tournament – Save previous options selected

‘Save previous options’ feature is to save previous options in Show and save check-mark box selection when you leave and return to “Copy from Existing Tournament” page.

2633: Round Robin / League Play Distribution Management – Replicate Client Functionality

Round Robin/League Play Distribution Management screen is to provide limitless flexibility for you to design and edit your own Round Robin/League Play Pairing schemes. Once you design your own Round Robin Pairing/League Play scheme, it will be an available format during pairing creation.

2641: Pairings Display Page – Add Space between each group

A modification has been made to the TPP Online Scoring page “Sorted by Starting Time” that adds additional space between each group, so that if the page is printed via a web browser it is clear what golfers are assigned what starting time/tee.

2742: Manually Re-pairing in TPP doesn’t reset the Date Played

This issue has been resolved, when you had a round assigned to particular date and then you add golfers to the event and repair manually.  The new date that was assigned to the round that was repaired applies that date to all tournament golfers, so that when scores are posted to the GHIN Servers the correct date is applied.

2642: Calculate Player Ages

Main function of “Calculate Player Ages” is to provide availability to calculate player’s age for open tournament. This functionality will allow you to calculate the age by ‘Tournament Start Date’, ‘Tournament End Date’ and ‘Today’s Date’. Also it will allow you to calculate the age by entering your own desired date by selecting ‘Calculation Date’.
Also it will allow you to calculate age for all or some selected players for open tournament.

2643: Match Play Extra Holes

Main function of “Match Play Extra Holes Assignments” is to provide availability to choose which holes of the golf course will be used when the length of the match play round exceeds 18 holes. Also the extra holes identification is represented when the desired method of the match play results entry is “Score Using Hole by Hole”. The functionality will allow you to assign extra holes from where individual flights will play if the length of the match play round exceeds 18 holes.

2712: Stroke Play Cut

Main Function for “Stroke Play Cut” is a feature under Scoring that allows the user to limit the number of players/teams that will be paired for a given round. The limit can be a cutoff score or a specific ranking of players/teams. The program will sort the players/teams in score order, then cut the players/teams who are outside the limit. The cut can be flight-by-flight or for the field at large. Stroke Play Cut becomes an option after you have played at least one round of the tournament and entered scores in TPP Online.

2714: Match Play Reassign Qualifying Scores

The feature “Reassign Match Qualifying Scores” has been added. Main function of this functionality is to provide option to select information that will allow the program to reassign the type of qualifying scores, it will retain for reporting purposes. This feature allows you to apply qualifying scores to existing matches and Pairings without re-doing them.

2692: Flights by Gender/Age – Replicate Client Funtionality

Main function of “Flights by Gender/Age” is to provide availability to create flights by player’s gender, then age and remove flight group. This functionality will allow you to create flight using only male by age group, only female by age group or male and female by age group. Advanced flight features are also available via the create flights screen, enabling you to create unlimited flight grouping and to add new names to your flight groupings so they can be easily identified in other parts of the tournament set up.

2738: Posting scores to GHIN ES

TPP Online now has the ability to post score directly to the GHIN Server, the functionality provides options to transfer all Equitable Stroke Control scores for the round/tournament to the player file of the GHIN Enterprise Server. The scores eligible for transmission include member scores, plus the scores of guests whose GHIN Numbers were entered as part of player entry.  You can now post scores as Home, Tournament and Away.

2743: TPP Scorecards

TPP Online now offers the ability to run scorecards directly from the Admin site > Scorecards > Scorecard Menu.  The scorecard menu offers all the selection and print options offered by the TPP Client, including “Round”, “Players/Card” “Dotting”, “Handicap”, “Previous Score”,”Player/Team Display Options”, “Pace of Play Options” and many more.
Additionally, all default scorecards have been ported over and are available to run.  As far as custom scorecards that users may have developed on the client can be uploaded using the “Import Scorecards” function.
The user can set logos, as well as, “Print All” or “Print Selected” card.  GHIN has also implemented the feature where it will remember the selections/options from your previous run and default to that when entering the menu.
The scorecard menu also contains the preview section gives the user a “sneak peek” on how the scorecard will be render.
The ability to design scorecards will be implemented in a future release, but as a user you can design scorecards on your local instance and import the scorecards so they are available to run from TPP Online.
Another bonus is that custom cards that are imported, can be used by any user that has access to the association specific site.  No networking of machines required.
** Note that if you are using a font style that is not available on the Server but may have been available on your desktop operating system, during the import process, the function will reset that font to a default style.

2708: Reassign Match Staring Times  – Replicate Client Functionality

The feature “Reassign Match Starting Times” has been added. Main function of this feature is to provide option to reassign new starting time, tees, methods, interval, starter’s time and reverse for an entire round, course, flights or wave after Matches and Pairings are created.. This feature allows you to make starting time and tee changes to existing Matches and Pairings without re-do them.

2748: Net Information

TPP Online has added the function to control “Net Information” as it relates to the net events. This includes:
The ability to set Handicap Limits for each gender per round.
Make adjustments to Course Handicaps based on Section 3-5 (9-3(iii))
Use 18 CH for 9 Hole Rounds

2750: Use 18 Hole Course Handicap for 9 Hole Rounds

The feature “Use 18 Hole Course Handicap for 9 Hole Rounds” has been added to Net Information screen under “Other Handicap Options” field. This feature will allow you to use a player’s 18 hole Course Handicap for 9 Hole Rounds. It is useful when using half-dotting of score cards to equalize the strokes for players with odd-numbered handicaps.

2752: Update Handicap Indexes

Under the Players menu item, users can now choose to “Update Handicap Indexes”.  Use this function to update the handicap indexes for all tournament players.
User has the power to update indexes based on Type (i.e. Members, Guests, All or Selection)
User can also choose what round to apply the updated index to, knowing that it will be applied to that round and all subsequent rounds
The user can choose to use the Current Revision or a Low Index, if Low Index is selected the user can select a time-frame from which the low is selected.
Lastly, there is the multimember selection option, which will handle what index to use when a golfer is a member of multiple clubs/Associations.

2753: Shotgun First Group “A”

The feature “Shotgun First Group “A”” has been added to tournament basic set screen under ‘Expense Code’. This option allows you to designate how you would like your tee assignments labeled if more than one pairing group will be assign to a hole in a shotgun start. Ex. 1A, 2A, … etc.

2757: Match Scoring – Cup Match

Cup Matches are now supported within our dynamic scoring pages.  The page now displays the overall team score as well as the particular round results regardless of match format.  GHIN added a tournament/scoring method for Cup matches.  This is control in both basic setup and within the scoring website setup page.  Additionally a new tab has been added to support styling of the “Cup Match” scoring page.  Cup match setup is in development, but currently requires the client to setup teams, rounds, and match setup.

2759: Cup Matches – Allow for halved matches

When scoring a “Cup Match”, the match play scoring scorecard will not allow scores posted past the 18th hole.  So, if the match is “AS” after 18 holes then match is scored as halved.

2768: TPP Online Reports

TPP Online now offers the ability to run reports directly from the Admin site > Reports > Reports Menu.  The Report menu is a replica of the report menu in the client, including the tree-view of report groupings, report preview options and all the proper sub-menus to ensure that the user can get the report results they desire.  Additionally, the user can set logos and have the ability to import custom reports that they have created in the client application.  Users can design on a local TPP instance, then when they get the report working as they want they export from the client and save to their local drive.  The within TPP Online, under the reports menu option, choose “import” and select the custom report to upload.  GHIN will be working towards providing users the ability to design reports within TPP Online in  future development phase.

2663: Add “Age” column in “Calculate Player Age” screen

The column “Age” has been added to “Calculate Player Age” screen. This feature will allow a result to be displayed on the screen only after calculate the player’s age. This will be very convenient to view player’s age and recalculate it if needed.

2112: Match Play Scoring – “Extra Hole” match card is left justified

The issue “Match Play Scoring – “Extra Hole” match card is left justified” has been addressed. This issue was related to specific web browser (Fire Fox). The issue was when second match play card became available; it was not aligned with the 1st card. Now it is aligned for all browsers.

2446: TPP Online – Export Wait List All/Paid/Not Paid not pulling correct info

An issue where the filter to determine which data to be exported as been addressed.  Whether, the filter is set to All, Paid or Not Paid, we are not providing the correct list to be exported.

2455: TPP Online – Unable to Register a Team – Java Script Error when finalizing registrat

The issue “Unable to Register a Team – Java Script Error when finalizing registrant.” has been addressed. The issue was when player was registering for any team event, it allowed to pass through all steps and when player clicked “Finish” button, it hanged there with the “Finish” button grayed out. Now it doesn’t hang and it allows player to finish the registration process for team event.

2737: Error on page when selecting last Round in “Scoring Option”

The issue “Error on the page when selecting last Round in “Scoring Option”” has been addressed. The issue was when you tried to click “Scoring option” button for the round which was not visited before, it was throwing error on the page and didn’t display “Scoring Option” screen. Now it will allow you to go to “Scoring Option” screen for selection.

New Product Release: GHP Online™ Clubs

We are pleased to announce that the initial development phase of “GHP Online™ – Clubs” is complete and ready for production. GHIN plans to make the newly enhanced product available to clubs as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2011. 2479: “Add Golfer” page – New Messaging and Functionality

No change to functionality. Just added the messaging to direct the user to use Golfer Maintenance to transfer golfer with an existing GHIN #.  User can still add a golfer to an unused GHIN #.

GHP Online Clubs:
Contains the same messaging to indicate that the user needs to use the Golfer Public View function to identify the golfer that you want to transfer.  User does not have the option to add a new golfer to an unused GHIN #, instead the newly added golfer is assigned the next available GHIN #.

2659: Removed header message for Change Golfer Statuses screen

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online Clubs:
The header has been removed from “Change Golfer Statuses” screen.  On the Club Page the service drop-down list replaces the Assoc/Club/Service boxes that the Association sites use.

2687: The “Add Score” funtion in Score Maintenance will attempt to provide a golfer’s default tee.

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online Clubs
A new feature has been added to both sites where adding a new score for golfer via golfer maintenance and the score type is set Home, the tee will be populated based on the valued saved as the players default tee. If the golfer doe not have a default tee assigned, it will default to the service-level default tee as defined in service management.

2696: Score Maintenance – Calcualtion of “Net Differential”

GHP Online Association & Club Pages:
On the score maintenance page, the filter option for “Eligible T-Score” has a new column.
The “Net Diff” column has not changed and calculates the net differential using the golfer’s current handicap index.
The “Net Diff at Time” column has been added and uses the index at the time the score was posted to calculate the net differential.

2703: Score Maintenance, Score View and Revision Scores

The GHIN Steering Services Committee unanimously agree that in the Club version of GHP Online, all score displays regardless of whether its a member of an authorized service, the user will have access to all score details.  The only difference between the views for a club official looking at a score record for a non-member is that they cannot Edit/Delete or Add a score.

2681: “Change Golfer Statuses” Page – returns only golfers from active services.

Modified the functionality to ensure that only golfers that are members of active services are returned when the user inputs only an Assoc/Club # as their filter criteria.

2731: Add a “Roster” link next to each Services

On the landing page for GHP Online – Clubs, a “Roster” link for each service has been implemented. Clicking the “Roster” link is the same things as clicking My Golfers > Club Roster, then setting service filter to the service which you wish to access.

2732: Display inactive golfers in different color on “Change Golfer Statuses” page

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online Clubs:
On the “Change Golfer Status” page. Once the page has been populated by invoking the “Search Golfers” function, all inactive golfers will be displayed in red font color.  This should make it easier to identify active vs. inactive golfers.

2733: “Transfer Golfer” page: Service drop-down list added

When transferring via the “Golfer View” page, the user will only be able to transfer a golfer to an active service that is presented in a easy to use drop-down list.

2686: Lookup function via the modal forms for Club Roster & Public Golfer View

If user clicks My Golfers > Club Roster and on the modal form clicks “Lookup” the Club Roster page is loaded.
If the user clicks on the All Golfers > Golfer Public View and clicks “Lookup” on the modal form, they are directed to the Golfer Lookup Screen.

2706: Course Rating – Allow to add club to unauthorized Association

An issue was addressed where a user is only allowed to add a CRDB Club to their association or an alternate association.  This security check is ensured on all CRDB functions.

2664: Clear filter doesn’t set “Status” to default value

GHP Online – Association & GHP Online Clubs:
The issue with resetting filter set to default value has been addressed. The issue was by clicking <Clear Filter> was not resetting filter set to default value. Now by clicking <Clear Filter> is resetting all filter set to their default value.

GHP Online Clubs – FAQs

Home: How do I access my club roster?

As with most application there are multiple ways to perform the same function, but the 2 easiest ways to access your membership roster is via the “Home” menu option or under the “My Golfers” menu option.

  • Home Menu Option: On your menu navigation bar, click “HOME”, you will see a list of all the services that you are authorized to manage, if you click the “Roster” link for a particular service, you will be presented with a membership list for that particular service.

  • My Golfers Menu Option: On your menu navigation bar, click “My Golfers” > “Club Roster”. This will give you a list of all golfers, in all services, that you are authorized to manage. Using the filters at the top of the screen you can filter the list by service, or search for players by

My Golfers: What is the difference between “My Golfers ” and “All Golfers”?

My Golfers” allows you to access the golfers of your own club. “All Golfers” will allow you to search for a golfer outside of your club membership.

My Golfers: Can I look up a member of my club by GHIN number?

There are two ways to do this.

From the top menu, click on My Golfers, then Club Roster. From here you can use the Golfer Lookup section at the top of the page.

From the top menu, click on My Golfers, then Golfer View. Enter GHIN number in the “Select a Golfer” modal.

My Golfers: How do I add a golfer who doesn’t have a GHIN number?

My Golfer > Add Golfer is used when you are adding a golfer to your club that does not have an existing GHIN number

My Golfers : What maintenance can be performed for a member of my club?

In addition to “Score Maintenance”, the following information can be changed in the “Golfer Information” section of the “Golfer Maintenance” page for members of your club.

  • Name and address
  • Birthdate
  • Gender
  • eRevision Information
  • IGN Information
  • Optional Fields set by the Club
  • Player settings such as default tee, score entry method and print group
All Golfers: How do I transfer a golfer who already has a GHIN number into my club?

From the “All Golfers” menu item, choose Golfer Lookup. Enter the GHIN number for the golfer, then press search. Locate the golfer in the Search Results panel and then click on the golfers name. At the bottom of the “Golfer View” page, you will see the transfer button. Press the button, then select the service in which you wish to add the golfer.

Note: If the golfer doesn’t remember his/her GHIN number, you can also use Golfer Lookup to search by first & last name, state and association.

My Golfers: Can I edit more than the 25 most recent scores for my members?

Yes. From the Club Roster page, click on the golfer’s name that you wish to perform score edits for. You will now be on the “Golfer Maintenance” screen for this golfer. At the top of the page, you will see a link to “Score Maintenance”, click it. On this page, you may use the “Score Filter” options to search for and edit scores outside of the most recent 25. Or use “Scores”……

My Golfers: Why do I get the message “The zip code entered does not match the state selected?

GHIN is now utilizing the USPS Zip code database to validate City, State and Zip. If you are getting this message, it means that the state selected doesn’t match the Zip Code entered.

My Golfers: What does the “Print” button do?

The print button will allow you to print an very informative “Individual Player Report”. The report contains GHIN number, local number, player type, status, status date, club name, address information, contact information, birthdate, age, Handicap Index information and Revision Scores. This report can be printed by right-clicking within the window and choosing “Print” or saved in a variety of formats.

My Golfers: Where can I review a golfer’s “Revision Scores”?

You can access Revision Scores for bothmembers and non-members.

  • Members: From the “My Golfers” menu item, choose “Club Roster”. Locate the golfer and click on their name. From the “Golfer Maintenance” screen, press “Show Revision Scores” (Located in the handicap Index Information box.)
  • Non-Members: From the “All Golfers” menu item, and choose “Golfer Public View”. Enter the golfer’s GHIN number, then press “Go”. If you do not know their GHIN number, you will need to choose the second option. “From the “Golfer View” screen press “Show Revision Scores”. (Located in the Handicap Index Information box.
My Golfers: Can I change the status of everyone in a specific service of my club or for everyone in my entire club at the same time?
Change Status of Service: From the top menu, click on “My Golfers”>”Change Golfer Statuses”. Choose the service you wish to modify and then press “Search Golfers”. From here you can place a check in the top most check box in the first column to mark all golfers, or you can check only specific golfers. Once you have checked those you wish to modify, choose to “Activate Selected Golfers” or “Inactivate Selected Golfers” by pressing on the applicable button.Change Status of Entire Club: From the “Change Golfer Statuses” page, choose “All” from the Service dropdown. Press the “Inactivate Entire Roster” button, confirm the status change by pressing “Yes” in the modal window. 
My Golfers: How can I edit scores for members of my club?

There are a couple of ways to get to Score Maintenance.

  • From the “My Golfers” menu item, choose “Club Roster”. Locate the golfer and click on their name. At the top of the Golfer Maintenance page, click on the “Score Maintenance” link. Locate the score you wish to edit and click the “Edit” next to it. This is a good option if you don’t know the GHIN number of the golfer.
  • From the “Scores” menu item, choose “Score Maintenance”. Enter the GHIN number for the golfer you wish to make score edits for. Locate the score you wish to edit and click the “Edit” next to it. This is a good option if you have the GHIN number of the golfer at hand.

 

All Golfers: How do I lookup a golfer that is not a member of my club?

To look up a golfer that is not a member of your club, click on “All Golfers” from the top navigation bar.

  • Golfer Public View Option: To do a quick search using GHIN number, choose the first option “Golfer Public View”.
  • Golfer Lookup: If you don’t know the golfer’s GHIN number, and want to use other search criteria such as last name or association, choose the second option “Golfer Lookup”.
All Golfers: I have a new member joining who already has a GHIN number, how do I transfer them?

To transfer a golfer to your club, first click on “All Golfers” from the top navigation bar.

  • Choose the first option, “Golfer Public View” and enter the golfer’s GHIN number, then press “Go”.
  • You will be on the “Golfer View” page for this golfer.
  • At the bottom of the page you will see a “Transfer” button, press it.
  • Choose the specific service of your club that you wish to add the golfer to.
All Golfers: Can I see the score history of non-members?

To see the score history of a golfer that does not belong to your club:

  • Click on “All Golfers” from the top navigation bar.
  • Choose the first option, “Golfer Public View” and enter the golfer’s GHIN number, then press “Go”. If you do not know their GHIN number, you will need to choose the second option.
  • You will be on the “Golfer View” page for this golfer.
  • At the top of the page you will see a “Score View” link. This is where you can view the score history for a golfer outside of your club.
Scores: Where can I access Rapid Score Entry and has anything changed?

From the top menu, choose “Scores” > “Rapid Score Entry”. When you click on “Rapid Score Entry” you will be brought to the “Rapid Score Entry Settings” modal window. From here you can setup score entry in various ways. Player entry methods now include “GHIN Number” and “Local Number”. Right now, player entry by name is not available, but will be in the near future.

Reports: Are the reporting options in the new GHP Online Club the same as what was available in GHINClub.net?

Yes. GHP Online Club uses the same reporting option “GHIN Web Reports”.
