GHP Golfer and Dymo Labels

With the most recent update to the Firefox browser, version 46.0.1, released on May 3, 2016 it appears the paper size selection of the label gets reset to the default. When this happens the Dymo label will print out a blank label.

In order to print the handicap label properly, the GHPOnlineGolferLabel will need to be reselected as the paper size. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Go to Devices and Printers in the Control Panel
  • Find the Dymo Label Writer Printer and right click on it
  • Click on Printer Properties>Advanced (tab at top)>Printing Defaults (bottom left)>Advanced
  • Set Paper Size to GHPOnlineGolferLabel and click Ok
  • Go back to the Dymo Label Writer Printer and right click on it
  • Click on Printing Preferences>Advanced
  • Set Paper Size to GHPOnlineGolferLabel and click Ok

Please click HERE for a visual guide to make these changes.

Note: If you have suppressed the print dialogue box you MUST release that first before doing the steps above. After resetting the paper size selection you can then suppress the dialogue box again.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Support at (800) 940-8535 x1 or ghinsupport@usga.org.

2016 USGA Handicap System Changes

As you are aware, the USGA Handicap System has made a few changes which will go into effect on January 1, 2016. In order to comply with the changes which relate to Internet score type and Modified Handicap Index, GHIN will be making the following updates to its products.

Internet Score Type

The definition of a score type has been amended by removing Internet (I) designation as internet score posting is a means of posting and not a type.

To comply with this, all scores posted through the internet (mobile app, GHIN.com, GHIN widgets, eGolfer) in a golfers scoring record (including previously posted scores) currently identified by scores type I, AI, TI and CI will be changed to display as H, A, T or C only.

The display will change on GHP Association, GHP Club, GHP Golfer, GHIN.com, mobile app, GHIN widgets, eGolfer and any VASP retrieving score data.

The display change will be moved into production tomorrow 12/17/15. A notification will be sent once this is completed.

On GHP Client, any scores previously posted as Internet (I, AI, TI, CI) and are a part of the scoring record on client, will remain unchanged and display as an I score type. Any new scores posted via the internet and routed to the client will not have an internet (I) designation. If the client club performs a new database download, all previously posted I score types will display as H, A, T or C.

The change to client will be moved into production at a later date. A notification will be sent once this is completed.

Since reporting is a tool used for informational purposes, we have left some ability in place to allow club and SRGA officials to search for and sort scores posted via the internet. This includes both Web Reports and Data on Demand.

Modified Handicap Index

Decision 8-4c/1 Treatment of Player with Temporary Disability – allows the modified Handicap Index to be used outside the player’s home club (i.e., no longer a local handicap).

Decision 8-4c/2, Treatment of Player with Permanent Disability – A player with fewer than 5 scores in their scoring record may be issued a Modified Handicap Index.

Follow the instructions on issuing a Modified Index in the GHP Club Quick Start Guide found on the Info Portal.

Windows 10 and GHIN Products

The GHIN team just finished completing its testing on the new Windows 10 operating system using GHIN products. Below are the findings from our testing. If there are additional items that you have uncovered through your experience in the field please share them with the support team so that we can update the post for all to see.

New Windows 10 Computer

  • GHP and TPP Client programs CANNOT be installed on a new Windows 10 computer.
  • For golf associations ONLY. It is possible to install TPP Client and point the data path to your online TPP instance to access the database.
  • Handicap Allocation Utility – The utility installs and works however there is some strangeness downloading the file from GHP Online (using the new Edge Browser, Firefox, IE, Google work fine). But it does work.
  • We were able to successfully install and run the latest Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

Windows 10 Upgrade from Windows 8.1

  • After the upgrade to Windows 10 both GHP and TPP Client open and work as expected.
  • The SQL Manager does not load any longer and an error is generated after the PC restarts (c:\windows\system32\sqlunirl.dll) because the SQL Manager is written to the Startup folder. If you don’t want the error to display, you can remove it from the Startup folder.
  • There is not a way to identify the port number on SQL.
  • The upgraded Windows 10 computer can run as the work station or the server.
  • Handicap Allocation Utility – The utility installs and works however there is some strangeness downloading the file from GHP Online (using the new Edge Browser, Firefox, IE 11, Google). But it does work.
  • If the upgraded computer is the server there is not a way to create a SQL exception in the firewall so the windows firewall will need to be turned off in order to access the client database.
  • We were able to successfully install and run the latest Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

New Microsoft Edge Web Browser

With the introduction of Windows 10 operating system a new web browser was launched, Edge. This new browser does not support some legacy technologies so Microsoft recommends using Internet Explorer 11. IE 11 is available through Edge by clicking on the 3 dots in the top right of the page and selecting IE 11.

We tested all of the GHIN online sites in Edge and as expected some did not work, as Microsoft said not all would. We still recommend using Firefox as your default browser but if you prefer to use IE 11 or the new Edge here are the options on a Windows 10 computer.

  • GHP Association – IE 11
  • GHP Club – IE 11
  • GHP Golfer – can run in Edge but no option for full screen or kiosk mode (at this time)
  • Data on Demand  – Edge or IE 11
  • eClubhouse –  Edge or IE 11
  • eGolfer – Edge or IE 11
  • eNewsletter/eRevision – Edge or IE 11
  • GHIN.com – Edge or IE 11
  • Help Desk – Edge or IE 11
  • Info Portal – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Association Admin – IE 11
  • TPP Association Viewer – IE 11
  • TPP Association Clubhouse Viewer – IE 11
  • TPP Golfer Registration – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP OnCourse – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Scoring Pages – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Texting – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Club Admin – IE 11
  • TPP Club Golfer Registration – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Club OnCourse – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Club Scoring Pages – Edge or IE 11
  • TPP Club Viewer – IE 11
  • TPP Club Clubhouse Viewer – IE 11
  • Widgets – Edge or IE 11
  • Web Reports – Edge or IE 11

GHP Development Release 9/26/14

9/26/14 8:45 pm

The updates outlined below were successfully released into production.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

This evening GHIN will be releasing two updates to GHP Association and Club. The first piece will fix the filtering and golfer displays in Print Groups. When managing print groups and selecting filtering options (service, gender, active, inactive) the proper data was not presented to the club administrator.

The second piece will resolve the issue of GHP Settings not holding the required fields when adding or updating member information in GHP Association or Club. If the club is marked as GHP Golfer, in its GHP Settings under Required Fields, the association and or club can check the fields that must be entered by a club official when adding a new member or updating a current member’s golfer information. This feature mimics the capabilities in GHP Client.

GHP Settings

GHIN will notify you once the changes have been moved out to production.

If you have any questions about these changes please contact GHIN tech support, (800) 940-8535 x1 or ghinsupport@usga.org.

GHIN Database Restored

The GHIN database has been restored and all applications are operating as expected. If you are still experiencing issues please contact GHIN tech support as soon as possible, (800) 940-8535 x1.

Again, we will continue to monitor the database closely this evening to ensure there is no impact on the revision tonight. We apologize for this brief interruption of service.

Mandatory Service Maintenance – January 27, 2013

Sunday evening, January 27th,  the GHIN server will be taken offline from 11:00 pm – 9:00 am Monday, January 28th ET for mandatory service maintenance. Services impacted for this downtime include GHP Client transmissions, GHIN.com (Post Scores and Handicap Lookup), GHIN widgets, GHP Online Association and Club, eGolfer, web reports, TPP Online registration and TPP Handicap Lookup.

GHP Golfer will continue to allow members to post scores however guest score posting and handicap lookup will not be available during this time.

Thank you for your cooperation during this maintenance period.

GHP Online Enhancements – October 18, 2012

To better enable associations and their member clubs to manage Local Numbers GHIN has released added enhancements to GHP Online Association and Club.

  •  Associations/clubs now have the ability to have a Local Number auto generated when adding/transferring a golfer. To ensure this feature is enabled go to GHP Online Preferences, under the Global Settings tab make sure the Show Local Number box is checked. If left unchecked, it is assumed the club does not want the Local Number to display on GHP Online Golfer nor do they want the Local Number to be autoassigned.

Note: If your club is already using Local Numbers in GHP Client as a posting option, this field will automatically be defaulted to a check.

  • When the association/club activates a golfer who is inactive, if the golfer already has a Local Number that is active for another member of the club, a new Local Number will automatically be generated.
  • If clubs are combined on a database, by checking the Show Local Number box on one it will apply to all clubs.
