GHP Web Reports

2016 USGA Handicap System Changes

As you are aware, the USGA Handicap System has made a few changes which will go into effect on January 1, 2016. In order to comply with the changes which relate to Internet score type and Modified Handicap Index, GHIN will be making the following updates to its products.

Internet Score Type

The definition of a score type has been amended by removing Internet (I) designation as internet score posting is a means of posting and not a type.

To comply with this, all scores posted through the internet (mobile app, GHIN.com, GHIN widgets, eGolfer) in a golfers scoring record (including previously posted scores) currently identified by scores type I, AI, TI and CI will be changed to display as H, A, T or C only.

The display will change on GHP Association, GHP Club, GHP Golfer, GHIN.com, mobile app, GHIN widgets, eGolfer and any VASP retrieving score data.

The display change will be moved into production tomorrow 12/17/15. A notification will be sent once this is completed.

On GHP Client, any scores previously posted as Internet (I, AI, TI, CI) and are a part of the scoring record on client, will remain unchanged and display as an I score type. Any new scores posted via the internet and routed to the client will not have an internet (I) designation. If the client club performs a new database download, all previously posted I score types will display as H, A, T or C.

The change to client will be moved into production at a later date. A notification will be sent once this is completed.

Since reporting is a tool used for informational purposes, we have left some ability in place to allow club and SRGA officials to search for and sort scores posted via the internet. This includes both Web Reports and Data on Demand.

Modified Handicap Index

Decision 8-4c/1 Treatment of Player with Temporary Disability – allows the modified Handicap Index to be used outside the player’s home club (i.e., no longer a local handicap).

Decision 8-4c/2, Treatment of Player with Permanent Disability – A player with fewer than 5 scores in their scoring record may be issued a Modified Handicap Index.

Follow the instructions on issuing a Modified Index in the GHP Club Quick Start Guide found on the Info Portal.

eNewsletter New Enterprise Delivery Service – SendGrid

As was discussed at the GHIN Users’ meeting in November and review webinar in December, we have completed the implementation and testing of our new enterprise email delivery service (SendGrid) that will be utilized for eNewsletters and other ad hoc email delivery needs.  Production eNewsletters for two SRGA’s were sent via SendGrid on January 15th and the process worked flawlessly.  All production ad hoc emails (TPP, eClub, web reports) are now being sent via this service and starting on February 1st, all eNewsletters will also be sent via SendGrid.

This change to an outside service will allow for reliable delivery and will include SendGrid’s expertise on:

  • Manage whitelisting
  • IP address reputation score
  • Email authentication/validation

Please note that this does not impact how you create or schedule your eNewsletters, and does not change the portal to view newsletter statistics.

GHP Web Report – New Default Tee Option

GHIN released into production three new available column options in the Handicap Index/CH report. Clubs now have the option to display the Default C.H., Default Tee Name and the Default Tee Rating.

Default tee

A player’s default tee will be displayed if assigned in the golfer profile, otherwise the service default tee will be used.

Web Reports v2.2 – Maintenance Release

GHIN will be pushing a maintenance release which will address all known issues identified since the release the latest version of Web Reports v2.2.  Most of these items were related to how the new functionality affected “Scheduled Reports”.  GHIN will have this release in production prior to the October 1, 2013 revision as the largest percentage of scheduled reports are set to be delivered on revision days.

Specific items addressed:

  1. Addressed the issue affecting the ability to edit existing scheduled reports where it was not saving changes made to the report causing the user to have to delete the report and create a new scheduled report.
  2. Addresses the issue where scheduled reports were failing. This issue affected the HI/CH Report when we added the ability to display a 9-hole CH value for 18-hole golfers.
  3. GHIN addressed the server error message received when clicking on the “View Details” option for a scheduled HI/CH Report.  The issue was caused by the same underlying issue as #2.
  4. GHIN fixed the sorting issue on the HI/CH report.  The issue occurred when the Handicap Index sort option was chosen, the Total Differential value should have been used to sort when consecutive golfers had the same Handicap Index.

GHIN will send out a notification when these issues are moved to production.

GHP Enhancements and Fixes

Following up on the recent GHP changes, we have released two more requested enhancements and corrected a few issues with Web Reports and GHP Client passwords.

GHP Enhancements

  • Guest Score Posting is now available in GHP Club Rapid Score Entry.
  • In preparation for adding short tee name on Web Reports, GHP Association now supports short tee name entry. This can be accessed through Home Courses and selecting Tees or through CRP to GHP Course Mapping Management and selecting Tees after locating desired course.

Tee Short Name

Fixes

  • The Scores Posted report has been corrected so column information is not overlapping.  In addition, the export now reflects the requested data.
  • The Round Count number in the Scores Posted report is based on the dates selected in the report, not automatically the calendar year.
  • The Shaft Labels report has been corrected to properly fit margins when printing. A document has been created for associations and golf clubs to help configure the browser correctly to print Shaft Labels. You can find the document in the InfoPortal (GHIN–>Documents–>GHP Online Club) or for your convenience click this link: Printing Shaft Labels through a Web Browser
  • When using GHP Association, if a club is set to use GHP Client under GHP Type, the Club Password access is grayed out. The Club Password in GHP Client is to be generated from the client.

GHIN plans to release Web Reports v2.1 next week which will contain new reports that have been highly requested to help meet the reporting needs of the many clubs who have transitioned to GHP Golfer.  GHIN is continuing to build out Web Reports based on feedback from clubs as they realize their reporting requirements. Web Reports v2.0 focused on enhancements and v2.1 is more about the addition of new reports.  See below for highlights of the upcoming reports.

Web Reports v2.0 Enhancements

GHIN is pleased to announce that we will be deploying the second in a series of three releases to our Web Reports application this week.  As associations have migrated member clubs from GHP Client to GHP Golfer, the need for greater flexibility within Web Reports became apparent. The main theme of this release is to take the existing reports and enhance them with additional data fields, filtering options and report appearance options.

Please Note: GHIN will notify you when these changes and enhancements are moved to the production site.

Club Roster

  • optional fields added as available fields
  • gender added as an available field

Handicap Index/CH Report

  • Course Handicap report can be run for club members using any golf course rating information in the CRP database
  • 9 hole Course Handicap report can be run for club members using any golf course rating information in the CRP database
  • differential field has been added as an option (Diff is the total differentials of the scores used to calculate the Handicap Index at the revision)

Low Handicap Index

  • allows for custom date range to be identified

Rounds Posted

  • allows for custom date range to be identified
  • score type has been added as an available field

Scores Posted

  • round count has been added as an available field

Handicap Index Range

  • low Handicap Index and high Handicap Index have been added as available fields

Miscellaneous Enhancements

  • Ability to remove all page header information after the first page of the report
  • Format changes on the Handicap Index/CH Report to display the Trend followed with the letter L
  • Services can now be segregated when running a report when All Services has been selected

One of the most requested options in Web Reports has been the ability to select any course to run the Handicap Index/Course Handicap report.  This feature request, which originated via Users’ Voice is now available, giving the user the ability to select any course within the CRP database across the country and compute CH values based on its Slope Rating.

Update Firefox 19.0 Issues 3/14/13

We have been able to resolve the Firefox issues with TPP Online Admin, Points and Team Club Play. The Golfer and Scoring pages were not affected by the new version of Firefox. We will be testing Clubhouse Viewer next. Once QA has completed testing we will let you know.

On an additional note, this upgrade has also impacted the USGA CRP program. When running the Certification Reports only a portion of the page will display. Here are the steps to print preview in Adobe Acrobat:

1) Go to Options from the tools menu
2) Click on Applications
3) Scroll the list until you get to “Portable Document Format (PDF)
4) Change the selection from “Preview in Firefox” to “Use Adobe Acrobat (In Firefox)” by clicking on the item under the action column

These display issues are true with GHP web reports as well.

Please keep in mind, the display issues are a direct result of the Firefox upgrade and Mozilla implementing their own PDF viewer. We cannot guarantee that future releases of Firefox will not default the view back to their own rather than the desired Adobe Acrobat.

We will continue to update you as issues are resolved.

(original post)

On February 19, 2013 Mozilla released version 19.0 of its internet web browser. Most users of the browser have it set to automatically update when newer versions are available. If you are one of those people your version of Firefox is already up to 19.0.2.  We began receiving reports of issues over the last few days and once these reports started coming in to GHIN, we were able to identify the Firefox update as the root cause.

This update has caused several errors to occur within GHIN’s on-line services.  Similar incompatibility errors are also being reported within the larger Firefox user community, indicating the issues are not isolated to GHIN services only.  GHIN Development staff has identified the issue, submitted error reports to Firefox, and is currently working internally on a solution.  We will be testing coded solutions today and will release an update as soon as we confirm the code is tested and working properly.

Some of the known issues are:

GHP Golfer

  • Margins: can no longer be changed for the Dymo label to print properly

TPP Online

  • Withdrawal Dates: Can’t set a refund amount with any of the available options, Fixed Amount, Entry Fee Minus Amount, or Percentage
  • Divisions: Can’t set a Maximum Size and can’t edit the Entry Fee, as it always defaults to the Tournament Entry Fee
  • Qualifiers: Can’t set a Maximum Size and can’t edit the Entry Fee, as it always defaults to the Tournament Entry Fee
  • Match Play/Round Robin – Creation Wizard: Does not save the time when moving from round to round

If you need immediate access to these features, please contact Tech support, (800) 940-8535 x1.  Otherwise, we expect to have a solution later today and will notify you when it has been released. We apologize for this inconvenience as we were as surprised as the rest of the world when this update caused so much havoc.
